McDonald's Thailand Receipt 2015 - Yes, that's a Yoshi
Late last week The Wife and I were flying over to Denmark for a couple week trip when I got word that McDonald's Thailand released their first promo burger since we moved there in September.  Although McDonald's Thailand usually keeps their promos running for at least a month, I didn't want to take any chances so I picked up a Hokkaido Salmon Burger the night before we left.

Last December McDonald's Taiwan released a similar promo burger called a Salmon+Beef Burger which was also touted using a "Hokkaido Salmon" fillet, and although I didn't try one, McDonald's Japan ran a salmon burger earlier in 2015 as well, so these are seemingly slowly making their way around Asia.  Compared to the one I had in Taiwan, this time around the patty was a bit thicker, and the meat was chunkier and less minced, but the breading and the overall size of the patty wasn't different at all.  The biggest disappointment from the one I had in Taiwan was the Dill sauce, but this time McDonald's Thailand used a marinara-esc seafood sauce which they called 'spicy', but fragrant is probably a better translation, and was actually a very nice accompaniment to the somewhat dry salmon patty.

But don't get me wrong, the patty wasn't bad at all, in fact, it was one of the better fried patties I've had in a long time.  The salmon flavour certainly stood out and was easily recognisable as salmon, and together with the sauce it was a pretty good burger.  The bun, and the lettuce toppings were standard, but seeing as the <$2 price point would place it on the value menu in most countries. A double-pattied version was also available, but with the lack of much veg, wouldn't be something I would opt for.
